So I am going to tell you a little story about the wonderful and medicinal, tearing me up everytime, onions. They are my favourite and try to include them in all my meals because of their alkaline properties and nutritious goodness.

Onions are active in their raw state than when cooked and it contains a variety of organic sulphur compounds, contained in a volatile oil, which attributes to its health benefits.

Like garlic they are part of the lily family and contains vitamin A, E, folic acid, one-fifth of your daily needs for vitamin C, 10% of your daily requirement for B6, and 10% of your daily manganese needs. One cup of raw onion also contains 5% of your daily requirement for phosphorus and 7% of your potassium needs. They also contain sodium, iron and dietary fibre. They also contain a compound called allyl propyl disulphide, which is thought to have a similar effect to insulin in balancing blood sugar levels.

Sorry, I promised to keep this short, a 1 minute read but I can't really stop talking about onions and its multiple health benefits like scar healing, lowering elevated blood sugar, and preserving heart health to fighting obesity. They are also particularly rich in quercetin, an antioxidant flavonoid.
